"carry me Daddy, my legs hurt"

personal image
When I was little these were the words uttered from my mouth on each and every family outing. As a result I spent an abundance of time perched upon my dad's shoulders enjoying the views and avoiding exertion.

In 1992, when I was 8 and my dad was 41, he was diagnosed with colon cancer. My father was an active, healthy, fun loving man who loved riding his bike, hiking the canyon, and spending time with his girls. Weeks later, on June 3, 1992, Mike Morley lost his battle with colon cancer.

On June 3, 2012, the 20th anniversary of my dad's passing I will be pounding the pavement, running the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon; 26.2 miles to honor my dad's memory and raise money for Fight Colorectal Cancer, an organization that provides focus, infrastructure and support to the growing colorectal cancer advocacy movement.

Unfortunately, I wont be running the marathon on June 3, I've had to postpone due to an injury. However, I'm still hoping to raise $2,500 by the 20th anniversary of his death. After all, this was never really about running a marathon, it's always been about remembering my dad. I will be running a marathon as soon as I recover from tearing my hamstring.

Please help me memorialize my father by providing support and encouragement and donating!
